The job
This Hallaton home needed the full package: the old roof stripped and replaced, and the tired roofline renewed to match. The result is a crisp new roof in dark grey slates with clean black uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering that should not need attention for decades.
The roof is hipped on several faces, which means more cutting, more ridge line and less room for error than a simple gable. Every hip and ridge was finished with a mechanically fixed dry ridge system, screwed and clamped rather than bedded in mortar, so there is no mortar to crack and drop out after a few winters. The existing roof window was slated back in with new flashings, and the whole job ran from a fully boarded scaffold with edge protection.
With the roof edge already exposed, it was the right moment to renew the roofline, and this job shows why we recommend doing both together. New black uPVC fascias and soffits went on ahead of the new guttering, giving the whole roofline a sealed, low-maintenance finish that matches the slates.
